Reading Order for Every Mudlark's Press Series

Everything we publish, in the order it's meant to be read.

All our fiction is written by Liz Hurley under three pen names — one for each kind of story. If you've arrived looking for a particular author, Eva St John writes the science fiction and urban fantasy, Anna Penrose writes the crime, and Liz Hurley writes the women's fiction and the walking guides.

The Norwich Map Runners — Eva St John

Flint in the Bones, book one of the Norwich Map Runners by Eva St John

In a city where history bites back, murder is just the beginning.

Urban fantasy set across a Norwich that exists in more than one time at once. Detective Eliza "Bish" Barnaby came home to a city she'd tried to leave behind, and found it full of people who can walk between its versions.

Flint in the Bones won Best Novel at The Selfies 2026, and was a semi-finalist in the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (SPFBO).

Read in order — this one is a continuing story rather than standalone cases.

  1. Flint in the Bones
  2. Fire in the Flint (also available as a deluxe signed edition)
  3. Blood in the Maps

Signed and deluxe editions are available direct from us. The deluxe edition of Fire in the Flint has sprayed edges with a map of Norwich hidden in them.

Common questions

Do I need to read the series in order?
The Norwich Map Runners and the Quantum Curators are continuing stories, so yes. The Golden Murders each solve a complete case, but Mal Peck's own story develops across them. The Hiverton Sisters can be read in any order. The walking guides are standalone.

Are the three authors the same person?
Yes. Liz Hurley writes as Eva St John for science fiction and urban fantasy, as Anna Penrose for crime, and under her own name for women's fiction and the Cornwall walking guides.

Where can I get signed copies?
Only here. Signed editions are posted from our bookshop in Mevagissey, Cornwall. Unsigned copies are printed to order and can be sent worldwide.

Are the books available as ebooks and audiobooks?
Most titles are. Formats vary by series — each product page lists what's available.
